Founder, College Application Guy
Hi! I am Scott Dickens, an experienced college advisor with a passion for guiding students toward their academic goals.

I hold an MBA from Louisiana State University (LSU) and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Music Industry from Catawba College, a small liberal arts college in North Carolina. I have also completed coursework in the Certificate Program for College Admissions and Career Counseling at UC Berkeley, and am an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and a member of the Pacific Northwest Association for College Admissions Counselors (PNACAC).

After nearly 25 years in the technology industry, including senior product leadership roles at Google, Meta, and Microsoft, I founded College Application Guy to help the next generation of leaders and innovators identify and pursue their paths.
Navigating the college admissions landscape has become complicated and stressful for many. But it doesn't have to be this way, and I'm here to help fix that.
I am a super-advocate of the positive, life-changing force that a college experience can offer, and I bring that enthusiasm to my students.
Why College Application Guy
1. Gain an industry viewpoint.

Getting into a college where you are happy and can do your best is an important step. But, it is just a first step on a much larger journey.

We take a big-picture view, informed by our years of leadership at some of the world's most prestigious companies.

Get bespoke advice from someone who has travelled the journey.

2. Reduce stress.
We get it - there can be a lot to do, much to understand, and it can seem overwhelming.

We help by breaking apart the work into manageable bites, and giving support from day one all the way through the finish line in a way that is tailored to your work style.

And, we do it all without the late nights and last-minute heroics.

3. Stand out, by being authentically you.

Colleges want to know who you are, and we're here to help you find your voice.

From your grades and classes to essays to extracurricular activities to recommendation letters, we'll help you weave together a cohesive application that stands out.
